I am trying to figure out why Microsoft Word 2011 for the Mac won't let me wrap the text I wrote for an English project around a picture. I looked up tutorials online and they didn't help. I don't know what the problem is. Department – you will need to modify the default, standard Word document. The only work-around I've found is to ask the author to send me a new copy of the article, but I'm bound to run into a non-tech-savvy author at some point. Any suggestions? Too long for a comment so I suggest: • For a misbehaved document, check Word Options, Advanced, Show document content, Document view: Left-to-right. • Also, Customize, Home Tab, select Left-to-Right Text Direction, Add, OK. With regard to change tracking (again with limited testing), the only complaint I have is Word 2011 still does not track changes made to images that you add to your documents. In benchmark tests performed by Macworld Lab, Word 2011 was much faster than Word 2008 at opening a file; in our Scroll and Save File test, the times were closer. We'll have more benchmark results in an upcoming lab report. Word 2011 benchmarks Open with File Scroll Save File Word 2011 27 7 2 Word 2008 47 7 2 Results are in seconds.

Create your document using heading styles Heading or Document Styles are used in Word to format a document in a consistent way that is easy to change. Using Styles in Microsoft Word is easy thanks to the Quick Styles gallery, which is found in the Home toolbar: To apply a style, simply select the text to which you want to apply a style, and then click the appropriate style in the Quick Styles Gallery.

Do i need vim for mac. The only solution I could dig so far is to use the hostname() function to get the machine name and map it on a specific OS but it is not as elegant as being able to check the OS itself. I've moved from using MacVim to using vim in terminal on my MacOs Lion and I've realized that both: has('macunix') has('mac') return false instead of true (they work fine within MacVim). Anybody knows why the has('.' This is an issue because I use the same.vimrc on my Mac and on my Archlinux linode and need to set specific options based on the OS.

To an external drive and just wipe the iMac. I will then install Lion any associated updates and then Office 2011. If this doesn't work then could it be a firmware issue (I seriously doubt it) but not sure what I would try next. BTW my iMac was purchased in 2009.

#20543 - 02/05/12 10:54 PM Re: Word 2011 Issue Opening docx file [] Registered: 08/05/09 Loc: North of 49th . Very strange. I updated my Office for Mac 2011 to version 14.1.4 in December when it became available. And while I generally create Word docs in RTF format (since it saves huge amounts in doc size), I am able to open.docx docs in Word without issue. On the other hand, when I used Word 98 up until recently (and 95% of my saved docs are in that format), whenever I'd get a doc with the.docx extension, I had to have the originator resend in plain.doc or.rtf format in order not to get a blank doc. So there may be something going on here which is similar.
