It’s important to understand that, to have the best experience with Skype for Business on Mac, Microsoft recommends using Skype for Business Server 2015 with at least CU3 installed. Regarding the configuration, make sure you have Server side Conversation History enabled and all the message history settings configured correctly.

Hi Steve, Did this issue only appear on the specific client? I did a test on SFB for MAC, it works fine. Based on my research, there is no option in SFB on MAC to modify if you could display conversation history with previous conversation history when you open a new window.
Everybody who has the latest version of SFB on the Mac has this problem. We just got another update, so the version is 16.6.333. The update uninstalls the previous version. As an example of the problem, I have attached a screen shot.

As I suspected, Server-Side Conversation History was deactivated by default. Fortunately, it’s easy to activate (provided you have Exchange set up & integrated).
Only now I couldn’t send or receive any IMs. Our server logs didn’t show any errors for my account in that time frame. Just the normal activity from my laptop. Given that I did use Skype for Business on another device while the app was open on my phone, I presumed that the app had tried to sync back to the Skype for Business Server, but failed. The app might have a sync timeout period. Or it may have just had an internal error.
